1. Gather the tools and faucet replacement parts you will need to rebuild your tub/shower faucet. Your faucet’s replacement parts will more than likely come from the manufacture, very few hardware stores or home centers stock Glacier Bay replacement parts. There are multiple suppliers of Glacier Bay faucets; you will need to call the warranty number that came with your specific faucet to find the correct one.
The suggested tools you will need are
2.5mm or 3/32 inch Allen wrench
Phillips screwdriver
Flat screwdriver
Flashlight
Channellocks or large pump pliers
Crescent wrench
Other items that you may use are
Plumber’s waterproof silicone grease
Emery cloth
Clean rags
Teflon tape
Antibacterial kitchen and bath silicone caulk
Basin or sink wrench
Plumber’s strap wrench
Goggles
Work gloves
Safety box knife

2. Shutting off the main water supply is optional when repairing a Glacier Bay Builders series faucet, your faucet is equipped with integral shut-off check valves. The waters shut off at the faucet body after the faceplate escutcheons removed. The exception to this is when one or both of the individual check valve(s) repaired, or fail to shut the water off.
3. Block the tub or shower drain to prevent losing small faucet parts.
4. Lay out a hand towel on the bathroom vanity or toilet seat to organize the faucet parts you about to remove.
5. Remove the small rubber index button or handle cap-A028166GD located under the lever handle. You should be able to pop it out with your fingers.
6. Loosen the handle screw-A008003. Using a 2.5mm-A031000 or 3/32-inch hex wrench, hold the faucet handle in place with one hand, and then turn the handle retaining screw inside the small opening three full turns clockwise-when looking down on the handle, with your other hand. Do not remove the screw at this time. If the screw it stuck, squirt a little vinegar or household cleaner on it with a small syringe. You may need to wait a few minutes before trying again.Caution -wear eye protection and heavy rubber gloves when using a harsh cleaning product like The Works.
7. Pull the Glacier Bay faucet metal lever handle-A069752 straight back towards you without turning the faucet.Caution -rinse the handle immediately for 2 minute under warm water if you used a strong chemical to loosen the setscrew before it damages the finish.
8. Unscrew the two-faceplate escutcheon screws-A075205 with a Phillips screwdriver. The screws may take over a dozen full turns to remove; this is normal.
9.Slide the faceplate escutcheon-A006007 off the faucet. The plate maybe sealed to the shower wall with old silicone caulk. Wearing heavy work gloves cut the glue with a sharp safety knife. Scrap the rest of the caulking material from the shower wall and escutcheon plate with a plastic putty knife. Clean the wall with a mild detergent and wipe dry. If the escutcheon seals damaged during the removal, we recommended that you replace it with a new one; the parts number is A060093.
10. Turn off the integral check valves-A663987 with a flat tip screwdriver. Rotate the screw stops clockwise until they are tight to close them and shut off the water supply. Unblock the drain, and then turn the faucet stem with its handle to relieve any backpressure left in the faucet.
11. Unscrew the Glacier Bay shower faucet trim cap-A103311 counterclockwise by hand. If it is too tight, you can wrap a moist cloth around it and carefully turn it with your pump pliers- using plumber’s strap wrench or a flat jaw pipe wrench would be even better if have one.
12. Unscrew the cartridge retaining sleeve-A103303 with pliers or wrench counterclockwise. Caution-Do not grasp the fine trim-cap threads on the bonnet sleeve with any tool, only hold the flattened areas; damaging the sleeve’s threads will require replacing the sleeve.

13. Pull the Glacier Bay ceramic disc cartridge-A507887 out of the bath faucet body with your pliers. Gently rock the brass cartridge stem back and forth while pulling it back towards you. Some water will leak out of the faucet when you remove the cartridge, this is normal. If the water does not stop dripping, shut off the main water supply to the home, or quickly install the new faucet cartridge.

14. Apply a thin coating of plumber’s silicone grease inside the faucet on the cartridge seat, and then to the bottom of the cartridge’s rubber seal.

15. Push the cartridge into the faucet while aligning the two pins on the bottom of the cartridge with the holes in the back of the faucet body. Rotate the cartridge with the (B ↔ B) symbol down, unless you are repairing a back-to-back faucet installation. If you do install the cartridge upside down, the cartridge may redirect the water flow in reverse; this will cause a safety hazard to anyone using the faucet. To fix the problem you will only need to turn the cartridge 180 degrees and reinstall.
16. Grease the threads inside the cartridge-retaining sleeve and screw it on the faucet by hand. Tighten the sleeve firmly with Channellocks or strap wrench.
17. Adjust the temperature setting on your ne Glaciar Bay cartridge at this time; refer to owner’s manual for detail instructions.
18. Turn the cartridge stem to its off position with the faucet’s handle.
19. Open the two water shut-off check valves fully open by turning them counterclockwise until they stop.Tip -If you do not open the check valves all the way, it will cause the faucet to operate incorrectly.
20. Unblock the tub or shower drain.
21. Turn the faucet on all the way to it hottest setting, and then measure the water temperature with a cooking thermometer. Let the water run for several minutes and check it again. If you need to readjust the temperature setting, now is the time to do it.Tip -Observe the check valves and cartridge stem for leaks while the water is running.
22. Lubricate the inside of the trim cap threads and screw it on the sleeve nut by hand only.
23. Slide the faceplate escutcheon over the trim cap until it is tight against the shower wall.
24. Reinstall the two-faceplate screws. Do not over tighten the screws; you will ruin the faceplate escutcheon.
25. Apply a ¼-inch bead of antimicrobial kitchen and silicone caulk all the way around the faceplate, and then smooth with your fingers or a moist sponge. This may take several attempts to get the seal just right.
26. Tighten the handle setscrew with your hex wrench securely.
27. Reinstall the small rubber index bottom on the underside of the faucet handle.

Water is dripping from tub spout.
A small amount of water dripping from a tub spout after use is normal. If the water does not stop dripping after 3 to 4 minutes, you need to remove and clean the faucet cartridge, and then inspect the seal on the bottom side of the cartridge; if it damaged, replace the seal or the whole cartridge.
Water is coming from the showerhead when the diverters turned off.
In most cases, there is a restriction in the tub spout’s outlet pipe. If the faucets installed with a galvanized pipe to the tub spout, it may have a layer of rust restricting the water flow and forcing the water to back up the shower raiser pipe. Simple replace the outlet pipe.
If the faucet’s tub spouts installed with CPVC (Chlorinated Polyvinyl Chloride) plastic pipe or Pex (Cross Linked Polyethylene) pipe, you will need to remove the undersized pipe and replace it with ½-inch copper or iron-pipe brass nipples and fittings. Pex and CPVC pipe will restrict the proper water flow.

a. Your Glacier Bay Faucets plumbed with Pex or CPVC pipe restricting the required water flow; replace the pipe with a material that is ½-inch id (Inside diameter).
b. The pressure and temperature-balancing cartridge is malfunctioning; replace the cartridge.

c. You have a tankless water heater installed on the faucet’s hot water supply. Tankless water heaters often restrict the flow of water in a heating system and cause multiple problems for pressure balance and anti-scald tub and shower faucets. You can try lowering the temperature on the tankless water heater to increase the water flow. Cleaning the tankless water heater is always an important maintenance issue; most need flushed at least once a year. Install a larger volume tankless heating unit that will adequately supply the faucet.
d. Undersized cold water supply pipe to the residence; install the proper size pipe to meet the needs of all the homes plumbing fixtures. Refer to your local and state plumbing code for more information on plumbing fixture and pipe sizing.
